Formal Dresses and Grad Ball Recap

If you're looking for an inexpensive formal dress, I would highly recommend Lulu's. BCBG dresses also get marked down a lot, so you can find a $600 dress for under $200 - check the BCBG, Saks, Bloomingdales, and Neiman websites or a BCBG outlet. I'm also a big fan of the Aqua dress at Bloomingdale's as they're pretty inexpensive for a formal dress, especially on sale. If you don't want to buy a dress, you can rent one from Rent the Runway! I checked it out and I thought the selection was outstanding. They send you two sizes so you're likely to end up with something that fits! Additionally, many women who have rented the dresses leave reviews online with pictures and measurements, which makes it easier to guess what size you are.

A few weeks ago, I went to a grad ball. My roommates are all part of the science faculty at my school and kindly invited me to the science faculty's grad formal. It was pretty much the opposite of prom - drama free. Prom was so stressful because I was worried about who was going to be in my limo, whose pre-prom party I was going to be invited to etc. My friends and I hosted a get together at our apartment before the ball for sangria and pictures. Then, we attended the dinner and dance at a hotel. Afterwards, we headed to a dive bar for karaoke while still wearing our formal dresses. We got so many weird looks which was hilarious.

The only issue that I ran in to this time around was my dress. When I went to order a dress that I had been eyeing on the Lulu's website, I realized that it wouldn't arrive in time, so I spent a good 5 hours browsing dresses online. I FINALLY found a beautiful BCBG dress on the Saks website on major sale. However, there was an issue with my order (on Saks end) and the dress was not going to arrive on time. To make the whole situation worse, I had a terrible experience with customer service that left me in tears, and this is saying something because I do a lot of online shopping and have had less than favourable experiences in the past with other websites.

I rushed to the mall and surprisingly found this dress among the limited options in my area. It doesn't look great on the model online, but looked great in person and the ruching was flattering on my rectangle frame. I paired the dress with these Sam Edelman heels which were SO comfy for a night of dancing.
