Preppy Fall Jackets and Coats

Here is a collection of preppy jackets and coats for fall. You can never go wrong with a classic pea coat, trench coat, or quilted jacket. Some of these picks are definitely investment pieces, but you will be able to wear a classic, preppy style for years to come!

When purchasing a more expensive item, I like to consider cost-per-wear. Because I wear coats from September to April, I get a ton of use out of them, so it's easier to justify this type of purchase. For instance, my Canada Goose coat is the most expensive item in my closet but I wear it nearly every day in the winter. On the other hand, buying a $200 dress for a formal doesn't make as much sense since you will likely only wear it a handful of times.

Fall Bucket List

Because the weather has been on the warmer side, it doesn't quite feel like fall. I'm hoping that by the time midterms are over the weather will have cooled down and I can do all of the favorite fall things. I'm looking forward to baking pumpkin bars (recipe  here - I make them for Thanksgiving dinners and my family always comments on how good they are!) and watching scary movies. I'm also going on a road trip to Montreal at the end of the month with my program and I hope to see beautiful fall foliage on the drive up. It's been years since I've been, so I'm excited to explore the city as an adult!

What's on your fall bucket list?

Thigh High Boots for Fall

Boots: Kaitlyn Pan // Shirt: J. Crew // Vest: J. Crew // Jeans: Joe's Jeans
Purse: Tory Burch (similar) // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Hey everyone! I'm finally back with another outfit post! Can we talk about these boots? They're the best dupes for the Stuart Weitzman Lowlands. I was shocked at how great the quality is. I appreciate how they don't have a zipper on the side which can really cheapen a boot. Now I want to order them in every color!

Friday Favorites

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Biostats has taken over my life and I've been finding it difficult to shoot outfit posts because my amazing photographer (aka my sister) lives 2.5 hours away! At the beginning of the school year I was worried that I wouldn't have enough to do, but now that the semester has picked up, I have a part-time research job, and I joined the student association for my department, I fear I have too much on my plate. However, my sister is coming to visit this weekend for homecoming so I'm hoping to squeeze in a shoot.

I was super excited to hear that J. Crew will be lowering their prices and offering more sales. If you scroll through their website you can already see some less expensive pieces. During the 40% off sale I purchased the striped off-the-shoulder top pictured above. It's super cute! I can't wait to wear it out for dinner or cocktails. It does run very large so I would suggest sizing down one size or even two sizes (for reference I'm normally an XS-S, and went with an XXS).

In other news, Bauble Bar came out with a collection of 18K gold jewelry. Personally, I prefer having a few nice pieces that will last for years to come as opposed a ton of trendy jewelry, so I was will definitely keep this collection in mind for Christmas. This ring is so pretty!

Have a great weekend!
