Falling For Quilted Jackets

JCrew Factory quilted jacket // JCrew Factory merino wool turtleneck sweater // JCrew Factory jeans // BP Trott booties // Ray-Ban aviators

Last weekend while I was visiting home, JCrew Factory was having a 50% off sale (+ 15% for students) so I stocked up on several items for fall including a striped shirt, jeans, a turtleneck sweater, and this quilted jacket. This was a poor decision on my part because I could barely close my suitcase when I left for home, so when it was time to leave I had to do some very creative packing to make everything fit. On top of my new purchases, I also brought my gigantic Canada Goose parka home for the winter, and there was no way that I could cram it inside my suitcase, so I had to carry it around with me in the airport and on the plane. People were giving me looks because they genuinely thought that I was wearing a marshmallow of a winter jacket on a bright, sunny fall day. Packing light is definitely something that I need to work on...

I own the JCrew downtown field jacket but I wanted something a little warmer for cooler fall days. Last year JCrew had a quilted downtown field jacket but it was nowhere to be found on their website this year, so I opted for the JCrew Factory version. The jacket is a little bulky and boxy, so I think it looks best when worn open. Here are some other great options:
-Barbour Annandale quilted jacket
-L.L.Bean quilted riding jacket
-Vince Camuto quilted riding jacket

Thanksgiving Walk In The Woods

J.Crew Factory gray wool sweater (similar) // J.Crew Factory vest (similar) // Black watch plaid blanket scarf (similar) // Joe's Jeans // Hunter boots // Hunter socks

Today was Canadian Thanksgiving (part 2). I so grateful for so many things in my life including my education, family, friends, and boyfriend. My family and I went for a lovely walk in the woods, and prepared another thanksgiving dinner, which included my favourite dish, stuffing! Honestly, if I had to pick between turkey and stuffing I would go for the stuffing. We use my grandmother's recipe, which the chef from the Waldorf Astoria revealed on the radio in 1947.

In the fall, I love throwing a vest over a cozy merino wool sweater and I like to pair this with either my Frye riding boots or Hunters. Last year my boyfriend gave me this plaid scarf, which I absolutely love. Blanket scarves are so versatile - you can wear them as a scarf, as a shawl, or as a literal blanket (which I have been known to do...).

Suede Fall Jacket

Talula suede jacket // Gap turtleneck (similar) // Zara jeans // Brown's suede knee high boots // Tory Burch purse // Ray-Ban aviators

Happy Monday/Canadian Thanksgiving!

I'm not too sure why Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving before Americans, but I'm not complaining because the beginning of October is the perfect time for a few days off. Senior year has been fairly stressful since my marks from this semester are the last ones that grad schools will see on my transcript, so it's crucial that I maintain good grades. I survived a very stressful week filled with midterms and flew home on Friday for a well-needed break. Saturday I had Thanksgiving dinner with my extended family and I made delicious pumpkin squares with a maple frosting (recipe here) that I HIGHLY recommend.

Today it was finally cool enough to pull out some of my fall clothes. I'm so obsessed with this jacket! Although it's fake ("vegan") suede, the quality is still very nice. I actually returned a genuine leather jacket to buy this one because I thought it looked nicer. I paired it with black suede knee high boots that I purchased last winter. I'm so obsessed with the Stuart Weitzman ones but I couldn't justify the cost, so I was happy to find a cheaper alternative.

Fall Wishlist

Happy Monday! My plate is full this week with an interview, two midterms, and a presentation, but come Friday I'm flying home for Canadian Thanksgiving! I'm so excited to have some time off after a stressful week. I can't wait to spend time with family, bake delicious treats, and finally get around to grad school applications.

While I'm back, I hope to do some shopping. I've been eyeing the wool skirt (#8) and while I'm at J.Crew Factory I might find an excuse to pick up another vest. I would also like a fall scented candle to remind me of home during the holidays, a brown pair of Frye boots to go with all of the navy in my closet, and another flannel from L.L.Bean. This year they introduced a fitted version of their classic flannel so I'm curious to see how that fits.

What's on your wishlist for fall?
